Liz Ellis

Liz Ellis is a retired Australian netball player and former captain of the Australian national team, the Diamonds. She was born on November 17, 1973, in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia.

Ellis is widely regarded as one of the greatest netball players of all time, with an illustrious career spanning over 15 years. She made her debut for the Diamonds in 1993 and went on to win two World Cup titles, four Commonwealth Games gold medals, and three Commonwealth Bank Trophy (CBT) titles.

In addition to her success on the court, Ellis is also a highly respected sports commentator and analyst. She has worked for various media outlets, including Channel Nine, Fox Sports, and the ABC, and has been a regular co-host of The Project on Network Ten.

Ellis is also a committed advocate for women’s sport and equality in sports media. In 2019, she co-founded the organisation ‘The Women’s Game’, which aims to promote and celebrate female athletes and sports professionals.

In recognition of her achievements both on and off the court, Ellis was inducted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame in 2011 and was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2009.
