Richie McCaw is a former New Zealand rugby union player who is widely considered one of the greatest rugby players of all time. Born in Oamaru, New Zealand in 1980, McCaw played his club rugby for the Canterbury Crusaders and the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. He was known for his exceptional skills as a flanker, as well as his leadership qualities and dedication to the sport.
McCaw made his debut for the All Blacks in 2001 and went on to play for the team for over a decade. During his career, he captained the All Blacks to two Rugby World Cup victories, in 2011 and 2015, and was named the IRB World Player of the Year three times. He retired from international rugby in 2015 with a record 148 test caps, the most of any player at the time.
